Cold weather forecast bad news for Dolphins bettors against Chiefs in Kansas City

If recent history is any indicator, the Miami Dolphins may have a tough time in the Kansas City weather on Saturday night.

Meteorologists are forecasting the game-time temperature at Arrowhead Stadium to be right around zero degrees with wind gusts up to 30 mph that will make “feels like” temps even more chilly.

If temps swing even further down before game time, there’s a chance this game makes NFL history.

Coming into Wild Card Weekend, there have only been four games ever with temperatures below zero at kickoff.

For the sunshine-soaked team from South Florida, that spells bad news.

The Dolphins have lost ten times in a row in games less than 40 degrees.

It’s a trend that goes back two decades for Miami, as they have gone 15-42 in games below 50 degrees and 8-19 in games with the temps less than 40 over the last 20 years, according to Action Network

Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, in particular, has been spotty in cold weather games throughout his NFL career, going winless with just a 71.8 passer rating in four games with game-time temps below 45 degrees.

The Chiefs, who for years now have played deep into the winter months, seem to enjoy playing in the cold.

They’ve won nine of their past 10 games in Kansas City in which the temperature was less than 40 degrees.

The Dolphins and Chiefs already met once this season during Week 9 in Frankfurt, Germany, with Kansas City coming out on top 21-14.

After opening at +3, Miami is a 4.5-point road underdog (BetMGM) .

The over/under is currently sitting at 44 points, which, on a neutral field, would be low for two offenses led by Tagovailoa and Mahomes.

But in these projected conditions, it doesn’t matter who’s behind center.

Betting on the NFL?

Chiefs-Dolphins isn’t the only game this weekend expected to be hampered by bad weather.

The Steelers and Bills will also play in windy, cold weather in Buffalo.

That game’s over/under plummeted from 43.5 points to 36.5 points in just over a day as sharp gamblers bet on a potential offensive struggle.
