Lizzo Responded To The Slew Of Anti-Fat Twitter Comments She Faces Daily
Pop singing sensation, Lizzo, has responded to the onslaught of anti-fat comments she receives on a daily basis.
“I JUST logged onto this app and this is the type of shit I see about me on a daily basis,” she started. “It’s really starting to make me hate the world.”
Lizzo, who unfortunately is no stranger to having to defend herself and her body, then said, “I’m tired of explaining myself all the time, and I just wanna get on this app without seeing my name in some bullshit.”
Lizzo then responded to another tweet claiming that the size of her body is “her brand.” Lizzo said, “I’m not trying to BE fat. I’m not trying to BE smaller. I’m literally just trying to live and be healthy.”
“My ‘brand’ is FEEL GOOD MUSIC. My ‘brand’ is CHAMPIONING ALL PEOPLE. My ‘brand’ is BLACK GIRL LIBERATION,” she emphasized.
Lizzo then noted how consistently she has been criticized, no matter what she does: “I’ve always led [with] my TALENT…But when I dropped ‘Good As Hell,’ feel-good music was ‘corny.'”
“The Love definitely do not outweigh the Hate on social media…all because I’m fat???? This is CRAZY,” she tweeted.
Lizzo ended with, “Y’all don’t know how close I be to giving up on everyone and quitting and enjoying my money and my man on a FUCKING FARM…”
The discourse surrounding Lizzo’s body seems to never come to a halt, as these tweets came even after Lizzo spoke out about anti-fat comments during her acceptance speech at the 2022 MTV VMAs. “‘Lizzo, why don’t you clap back?'” she asked rhetorically. “‘Cuz, bitch, I’m winning, hoe!”
And, BTW, being fat certainly doesn’t equate to being unhealthy. It’s clear that people should learn to be kind and not make unsolicited comments on anyone’s bodies, no matter what shape and size.
